And save 1000€ on hotels

Most of the money spent on vacation goes to hotels.

Last summer, my husband and I wanted to save money: we were going to travel around Europe by car and live in campsites. As a result, we saved almost 1000 euros. I’ll tell you how to do the same, what to expect from campsites and what to take on the road.

What is camping

Camping is a camp for car travelers. Some come in motorhomes, others bring the necessary equipment in cars and set up tents. The campsite itself usually provides toilets, water, showers and electricity, sometimes some minimal infrastructure such as shops. Some campsites have separate cabins. They are designed for companies from 4 to 6 people, but during the season they are usually busy.

To freely plan a route and not depend on anyone, it is convenient to travel by car with a tent. You just choose a campsite along the way, arrive, spend the night and drive on.

Sometimes campsites have a pool. Even in Europe, there are many campsites specifically for nudists.

Terms of use

Usually campsites have a shower, toilet, electricity. You arrive, register, receive a code from the barrier, pay either immediately or at the end of the holiday. Look for a free place and put up a tent.

In the high season, large campsites can host guests for at least a week, they just won’t be able to spend the night. Look for smaller and simpler campsites, there are usually no such rules, but this point is still better to find out in advance.

Campsites usually have a daily routine. It is often forbidden to enter the territory by car after 22:00. You can leave or enter the campsite on foot so as not to disturb your neighbors. Making noise at night is also strictly prohibited: everyone is asleep.

Price

The price per night depends on the location of the campsite, season, availability of the pool, WiFi, number of guests, and so on.

The price varies depending on your needs: when registering, you fill out a card in which you write how many you are, how many nights you want to stay, what you came with, whether you have children and animals with you, whether you need electricity and other services. Based on this information, you will be billed for the cost of your stay.

Prices start from 10 € (730 R) for two for a night, but this is if you are very lucky. The average price per night is 15-30 € (1095 -2190 R). For additional services like electricity, you will most often have to pay extra about 3 € (219 R) per day. Sometimes campsites have paid showers.

10 €

the minimum cost of spending the night at the campsite, if you are very lucky. Average prices: 15-30 € for two per night

There are large campsites with a pool, playground, private beach and other amenities - they are more expensive. In such campsites, group excursions are held, balls and rackets are rented, and guests are entertained. A night in them can cost up to 50-60 € ( 3649 -4378.8 R ), which is still cheaper than a three-star hotel in Europe. This is especially advantageous if you come with your family or a large company.

How to make a route

It is best to make a route before the trip and write out campsites along the way in advance. It is useful to enter their coordinates into the navigator, and not just the address, but the geographical coordinates: in the wild countryside this is more useful.

I advise you to choose several alternate campsites: there are many travelers in cars in Europe and there may not be places in the chosen campsite.

If you just want to look for campsites along the way, try not to do it too late in the evening: many close the entrance after 22:00.

If you are 100% sure of your itinerary, campsites can be booked in advance. Sometimes campsites do not charge money in advance and cannot reserve a place for a tent. This is important if you need to apply for a visa to travel.

To find campsites, use aggregator sites. Recommend for Europe:

  • camping.info (in Russian)

wild sleepover

If it’s already late, and there are no places in the nearest campsites, there is another option for a “wild overnight stay”. You yourself are looking for a comfortable and safe place to spend the night. You can drive off a busy road and put up a tent somewhere in the field. It is possible to sleep in a car at a gas station on a toll highway if there is parking there. You see truckers parked for the night - feel free to join.

The rules for such overnight stays in different countries may vary. For example, somewhere it is forbidden to sleep in a car, somewhere to put up a tent in an open field. Check the rules in advance according to your itinerary.

For example, in France, according to the official website of the French administration, wild camping is prohibited:

  • on motorways and public roads;
  • on the territory of environmental protection facilities;
  • less than 500 m from historical monuments listed as protected;
  • on the territory of natural reserves;
  • on the seashore;
  • less than 200 m from water sources (wells, fountains with drinking water).

The mayor's office of each city can set its own rules: for example, to ban wild nights in the entire public area. And in order to put up a tent on private property, you need to get the consent of the owner.

Our experience. We spent three nights as savages. All three times because they started thinking too late where to stay.

The first time we had a wild overnight stay on the Lyon-Madrid motorway: we just set up a tent on the lawn of a recreation area at a gas station.

Once again, we spent the night as savages in a national park in the Sierra Nevada mountains - according to the rules, you can only stay one night in the same place in this park. We pitched the tent late at night, and in the morning we woke up from the continuous hum of bees and saw that we were sleeping in the center of someone's apiary.

The third time, in Aquitaine, we set up a tent at night in the bushes, and in the morning found that we were sleeping in front of a private house. This is prohibited under French law. We left quickly.

Nothing happened to us during these wild nights. But this does not mean that I recommend repeating our experience.

Advice. Look for a place to spend the night before dark. Place the tent away from roads, buildings and private houses. Try to hide it behind a car or trees so as not to attract too much attention. Leave a clean place behind. Biological waste is recommended to be buried.

What you need for camping

The list of necessary things depends on how you will get to the place. If you are flying and renting a car, you will have to comply with weight restrictions. Other necessary equipment depends on the services provided by the campsites on your route.

If you are going on such a trip for the first time, I recommend that you borrow equipment (sleeping bag, burner, tent) to the maximum from friends or rent, for example, at Avito. We took almost all the equipment from our parents and bought the missing little things.

So here is a basic list of things you will need.

Accommodation

Need a tent and tools to set up. They usually come with it. Look at the capacity of the tent, water resistance, number of layers. Other important factors: the quality of the material, the method of gluing the seams, the stability of the tent, weight, the complexity of self-assembly.

Before the trip, unfold and fold the tent a couple of times at home, on the floor. So you check if the tent is assembled, if you or the previous owners have lost anything important

Here is a normal waterproof tent for two from Sportmaster for 2000 R:

It may be cramped, but it weighs only 2.3 kg.

Here is an option that is more expensive and more comfortable - a waterproof tent "Indiana Trump" for three:

There is a vestibule, there is more space, but it weighs 4.5 kg and costs 6900 R.

We lived together in a three-seater tent with a vestibule, which we took from our parents. The tent was about 15 years old, but it performed all the necessary functions.

Dream

You will need a sleeping bag and a foam or mattress to put under the bag. Pillows on request.

The bag must be chosen according to the weather. If you travel in the summer in central Europe, take a bag with a temperature comfort index of 10-25 ° C. The lower this figure, the warmer the bag. If you are traveling to a cold country, take a bag for a temperature of -5 ... 0 ° C.

Here is a compact and not very hot sleeping bag from Decathlon for 600 R:

Weighs 720 g, suitable for temperatures from 20 ° C. There is a pillow pocket where you can put your things and sleep on them.

Here is a more expensive option - for 1500 R, also available in Decathlon:

Designed for temperatures from 10 °C. It has a drawstring hood for comfort and warmth. Can be combined with another similar sleeping bag to sleep together.

You need to put something under the sleeping bag for warmth. Ordinary travel foam will do. For 1700 R in the same Decathlon you can buy a self-inflating mattress - it weighs 950 g, it takes up less space than foam, plus with it you will save the space that would be required for the pump.

If there is space, it is best to take a full-fledged mattress for two, for example, such a classic Intex air mattress from Sportmaster. Worth 1800 R, weighs 3.8 kg:

I advise you to choose a mattress, focusing on the area of \u200b\u200bthe tent. If the mattress is smaller, it will dangle inside the tent - this is not very convenient.

Is it comfortable to sleep in a sleeping bag?

I want to warn you right away that sleeping in a sleeping bag is uncomfortable. It can be either cold or hot. You may be disturbed by the sounds of nature or conversations in a nearby tent. And if you want to go to the toilet at night, you will have to get dressed and, carefully stepping over the stretch marks of the tents, go in the dark with a flashlight to the sanitary unit, hoping that this will not happen again until morning.

Cooking

You will need a gas burner and utensils to cook. Many campsites have barbecues for common use. Large campsites often have a shared kitchen. If you have only such campsites on your way, you can not take a burner.

If you are flying, check with the airline to see if you can take a burner. A burner burner without a gas cylinder can most often be carried in luggage. In any case, you will have to buy a gas cylinder when you arrive: no airline will allow you to carry a cylinder with explosive compressed gas in your luggage.

Plates, glasses and cutlery can be replaced with plastic ones. Buy groceries and detergents locally.

Gas burner "Mega-gas-stov", 1500 rubles, available in Decathlon
Utensils for cooking on a hike: a bowl and a pot for 1000 rubles, available in "Sportmaster"

Lighting

We took a street lamp and a lantern. Don't forget to take a few extra sets of batteries. You can find a dynamo flashlight that is charged by turning the handle.

Street lamp, 500 rubles, Decathlon

Fridge

If you are traveling by car, I advise you to take a full-fledged mini-fridge instead of a thermal bag. It will come in handy if you plan to stay at the same campsite for several days. This refrigerator requires a network connection.

If you will be on the road for a long time, a thermoelectric auto-refrigerator is more convenient. It costs the same as the regular one. Cools not too powerful, but it can work on the road from a car cigarette lighter.

Miscellaneous

Extension, to connect to the electrical panel in the campsite. It is best to take a large extension cord on a reel with you. Without an extension cord, you can charge your phone and gadgets in the sanitary block (but you will have to stand next to them all this time) or ask to charge at the reception.

Pilot and adapters under the types of sockets of the country you are going to.

Insect repellents useful for sure: both sprays and spirals.

In general, camping means a base for autotourists, but in our country this word usually means going out into the countryside by car by a large company or the whole family, usually with an overnight stay. Today we will talk about the necessary and useful things for a comfortable outdoor recreation and give specific examples of good-tested ones. What is better to prepare in advance and take with you so that the rest goes as it should?

So, in order.

Camp. Overnight.

Tent

A camping tent or tent can act as a "substitute for a house". If you plan to spend the night - of course, it is better to take a camping tent, if without an overnight stay and the weather is good, sunny, without rain - you can use a tent.

As a good option, reliable, durable and with high performance - a range of camping tents Tramp Brest.

Ruler Brest represented by - and options. Their layout is such that the 4 and 6-seater rooms have a vestibule in the center, and to the left and right of it there are two residential sections. The largest, nine-seater, has three whole rooms, on the sides and behind the vestibule.

The bottom of the tents of this series has a water resistance index of over 10.000 mm w.st., which means that the tent will not get wet, even if you put it on a damp or wet surface. These tents are double layered and have a water resistance of 4.000 mm w.st., which means that the tent is completely protected from the rain. The outer tarpaulin is treated with UV protection, which extends the life of the tent, and a flame retardant treatment, which increases safety. All seams are taped with heat shrink tape to prevent moisture from penetrating inside. The arches are made of Durapol 9.5/11 mm, the posts are made of steel, 16mm. Line tents Brest equipped with a wind and snow skirt.

Sleeping bag

For comfortable camping, large-warm sleeping bags in the form of a blanket are well suited, they can be unzipped along the entire length and covered like a regular blanket.

A high-quality, warm, comfortable option, ideal for camping in the summer and in the off-season - a sleeping bag. The inner fabric is soft flannel for maximum sleep comfort. Dimensions - 195x100 cm, this is a wide option that is suitable for people of any build, and children can simply curl up in it, like in a giant nest. You can unzip it and it will turn into a large soft blanket. The reflective insert on the zipper loop makes it easy to use the zipper in the dark. Inside the sleeping bag there is a mesh pocket for small things, a handkerchief phone, etc. It is completed with a high-quality compression bag, there is a possibility of fastening.

Another great option for a compact lightweight summer camping sleeping bag blanket is. It weighs only 1.5 kg, the inner fabric is a mixture of cotton and polyester, which gives a combination of comfort with increased durability. Size - 185 (+35 headband) x80 cm.

You can use it in almost any conditions, it is more convenient and faster compared to a conventional fire, and it will be much easier to wash the dishes after use.

Most gas burners are small options and are designed to be used by one person. Therefore, for camping, it is best to use a gas stove, as simple, reliable and convenient as possible to use. A good option is a stove.

  • Be sure to bring extra warm clothes with you and keep them dry, even if the weather is sunny and warm
  • It is better to appoint those responsible for the preparation and distribute who is responsible for what
  • It is better to estimate a sample menu in advance, taking into account the wishes and characteristics of all participants. Who will eat and drink what, who is allergic to what - it is better to know and decide all these points in advance

Hello! We recently returned from another trip by car, this time we drove around the Tver region with a tent. Going on a trip, I tried to understand what I should take with me, recalled my own childhood experience, leafed through dozens of articles on the Internet (by the way, there were not so many sensible tips!), Being afraid to miss something or forget. And today I will tell you about what you need to take with you for a more or less comfortable stay with a tent.

It just so happened that all the most beautiful views and places are those that are difficult to get to, where hundreds of tourists have not yet managed to get, where there are no beaten paths and roads. And in such places you can not do without reliable helpers - tents, cars and your own legs.

Therefore, this article is so important, because during the trip everyone wants not only to look at beautiful views, but also to relax in relative comfort. Today I will try to tell you about what is vital to take with you, and what can be easily sacrificed to save space in the car.

Things for a comfortable vacation in nature

What do you need to set up a camp?

1. Tent- your home for the duration of the trip, where you will spend a good half of the day, and if it is a rainy day, then more. Therefore, the choice and purchase of a tent must be approached responsibly: there are ordinary tents, quick assembly (convenient if you move every day and need to spend time collecting and setting up the camp every morning and evening) and special sun protection (the tent has a special ventilation system and special coating that protects against overheating and stuffiness (relevant for those who want to sleep longer than 6 am on a sunny day and not air the tent before going to bed).

The cost of a normal tent in sports shops is from 5 to 12 thousand.

2. Air mattress and pump. In order not to sleep on hard ground, the world came up with a chic invention - an air mattress. On it you will be able to spend the nights quite comfortably, although it still cannot be compared with spending the night at home on a soft, full-fledged mattress, but for lack of a better one, this is an excellent choice.

The cost of mattresses in sports stores - from 2 thousand.

3. sleeping bags- the most necessary thing after the tent. They will protect you from the cold, let you sleep at night. Sleeping bags are distinguished by temperature conditions (there are light, summer sleeping bags, but there are also winter ones that can withstand temperatures down to minus 30). I would advise beginner travelers to take a sleeping bag that can withstand temperatures from +10 and above, but this option is only suitable for summer nights in nature. By the way, there are sleeping bags that can be connected to each other - a very valuable feature for a couple, because the two of them are always warmer!

The cost of sleeping bags in sports stores is about 1,500 rubles.

4. Foams or travel mats. Also a very important element of hiking equipment. You will need them during the day, at the moments when you decide to sit down on the ground to cook food or settle down with a book. Do not sit on damp ground!

The cost of foam in a sports store is from 300 rubles.

It turns out that the minimum set for a comfortable stay in nature in a tent will be from 9 thousand rubles for two.

What do you need for catering in nature?

In nature, they usually eat what does not require special heat treatment or what can be cooked on an open fire using long-term products.

Kebabs should be eaten in the first days, then cheeses and sausages, bread and cereals, fresh vegetables and fruits will go. The most desperate, remember the old school and buy canned food. I try to break away from such traditions, preferring fresh products.

And in the absence of a refrigerator, you will need the following things:

1. Brazier and all sorts of things for cooking on it(source of fire, ignition, coals). It is most convenient to go with your own barbecue, but you can try to find someone used in the parking lot. But in extreme cases, you can lay out a circle of stones and make a fire in it. You can also refuse coals, because there will be a whole forest around you, where you can pick up branches for several years to come.

But if you need to walk quite far from the car, then it's best to leave it all at home. After all, in this case, every extra kilogram will be important to you.

For even more comfortable rest, take a gas burner with you. She will make your life easier!

2. Boards and knives for cooking. You will have to cut something, so stock up on handy boards and sharp knives. We carry the cheapest plastic board with us, which can be easily rolled up, very convenient for transportation.

3. Cooking utensils. If you plan to cook anything more interesting than barbecue, then you will need a camping pot, a kettle and a frying pan. It can be stocked with serving bowls, for example for salads. But on a trip for a couple of days, this is quite possible to refuse.

4. Utensils for food. If you are going to go camping with a tent quite often (at least once a year), then I recommend stocking up on plastic plates and appliances. They take up little space, but they are very convenient, they keep the temperature of the finished dish well. This is a better option than carrying disposable dishes with you. We, however, get by with a one-time use. But when the stocks are depleted, I plan to purchase a permanent one.

5. Sauces and condiments for food. Don't forget to bring salt, sugar, pepper and oil with you.

6. Reading drinking water. It will be needed not only for drinking, but also for washing vegetables, fruits, hands before eating. She can also wash.

7. Garbage bags and napkins. People, pick up your trash! It will be more pleasant for you to return to these places later. Well, napkins can be needed at any time.

What do you need to maintain personal hygiene while traveling?

On such trips, you can wash only conditionally, swimming in ponds and rivers. It is difficult to call such a full-fledged bathing, do you agree?

To maintain personal hygiene while traveling, you may need:

  • a piece of soap;
  • toothpaste and brush;
  • wet wipes for personal hygiene;
  • moisturizing cream;
  • hair brush.

You can also use dry shampoo. Take everything else, based on your needs.

What to take with you to nature so as not to get bored?

Imagine that you run out of charging in your phones, the Internet will catch every other time and it takes a wildly long time to load. Swimming and sunbathing all day long is quite boring, so think about what you will do. What are the options? Millions! Board and active games, books, drawing, fishing - choose your favorite.

We protect ourselves in nature. A few rules for a safe and comfortable stay

In this section, I will talk about how to protect yourself from injuries and other dangers while traveling:

1. protected from insects. Take creams, sprays, and suppositories or coils designed for outdoor use. For those who can hardly tolerate insect bites, I recommend stocking up on means that mitigate their effects.

Take more insect repellant, don't suffer from mosquito infestation. Believe my experience, it is better to get covered from head to toe than to hide in a tent and be afraid to go outside.

2. protection from injury. In nature, you need to be especially careful, and in case of emergency, you should stock up on a first-aid kit with peroxide, cotton wool, bandages and plasters of various sizes. Also, don't forget the pills you take regularly.

3. Sun protection. When you go on a trip, take suntan lotion and emollient ointments with you in case you burn out. Well, put a panama in your luggage)

4. protection from unwanted characters. Going on a trip for the first time, we thought that we would find ourselves at night in nature, a little far from incomprehensible personalities, local villages. And they got a little worried.

Of course, if you are going on a trip with a large company, then you don’t have to worry here, but when traveling together, this issue seems quite acute. Therefore, try to choose parking places according to the advice of other travelers or stop completely in wild places! And you can also put up a tent on the territory of campsites, but this vacation will turn out to be less “wild”, because there are security, toilets, and somewhere even a shower, a cafe and a shop on the territory.

And also always stay in touch with family or friends, which could call rescuers if you suddenly disappear. Just do not forget to send the coordinates of your parking in advance!

To do this, you need to make sure that you always have a way to call for help. Take your phones with you, and put the charger in the car. If you go to completely uninhabited places, then take a gps tracker with an emergency call button with you.

Oh, and don't forget your clothes, swimsuits and towels.

Each individual tourist has his own understanding of camping.

For some, this is a weekend trip to nature, not far from the city, with an overnight stay in a tent. For others, it is active autotourism, which involves spending the night in a tent.

For others, it is a multi-day and multi-kilometer hike, often on the verge of endurance of the body, which involves not only spending the night in a tent, cooking on a fire, but also the need to carry all the necessary things in a backpack, that is, on your own shoulders.

Accordingly, the list of necessary things that you can and even need to take with you on a camping trip varies significantly depending on the intended type of camping holiday. Of course, for a more comfortable stay and trips by car, the number of things will be much more than for long and multi-day trips with a backpack.

Types of camping

I repeat a little, to understand the types of camping, and specify the list of necessary things.

For myself, I share three types of tent rest:

  1. A weekend trip, usually by car, not very far from home, with one or two nights in a tent.
  2. Active autotourism for several days, with overnight stays in a tent.
  3. Multi-day hike, without using a car.

Let us dwell in detail on each of the types of tent rest and a possible list of things necessary for rest.

List of necessary things for a weekend trip with tents

Considering that a weekend camping holiday is usually carried out by car - this is either a trip in your own car, or a car - transfer to a place of rest, the presence of a car makes it possible, on the one hand, to take more things that you may need, and with the other, taking into account the short duration of the trip, limit yourself to the minimum set.

1. Actually, the tent itself

If you are already planning a tent vacation, then without it, nowhere. Currently, the choice of tents is simply huge - from small single tents to multi-room tents, in which you can not only accommodate a large company, but also arrange a common kitchen - dining room.
If you need a tent once or twice a year, don't buy an expensive tent. The only requirement that you must consider when buying a tent is that it must be waterproof, both from above, for example, in case it rains, and from below, in general, also in case it rains and water flows under the bottom tents.

For more frequent trips to nature, it is worth choosing a better quality tent, both in terms of the materials used for its manufacture, and in terms of its stability and ease of installation.

I think that any professional seller of a tourist shop will be happy to not only advise you, but also help you decide on the choice of a tent in the ratio of the desired price / quality.

2. Travel mats and sleeping bags

In addition to the tent itself, you need to take care of the bed.

Self-inflating mats, which take up little more space and weight than travel mats, have become a good replacement for the usual tourist rug (“foam”).

Some tourists buy a large rubber mattress, inflate it right in the tent, and sleep peacefully on it, not only without experiencing the cold from the ground, but also on a completely soft and comfortable surface. For the mattress, do not forget to buy the appropriate pump (as a rule, the pump is included).

Even with a large mattress, sleeping bags are still needed. And, if one large mattress is enough for a tent, then every tourist, including children, needs sleeping bags.

3. Warm clothes and shoes

If you travel not very far from home, and the weather promises to be hot and not rainy, you can not take a large number of warm clothes. At the same time, do not forget that evenings and nights, especially near the water, are cool, so a warm jumper and trousers (even sports ones) can come in handy.

Yes, and weather forecasts often do not come true, and instead of a beautiful tan from nature, you can bring pronounced signs of a cold. That is, even if you expect heat, you need to take warm clothes. Especially if you are traveling with children.

Also, do not forget that for outdoor recreation it is necessary to take comfortable clothes with you, preferably one that does not wrinkle too much when worn actively.

4. Camping - tourist furniture: folding table, chairs

The items are very comfortable. But their availability depends not only on your financial capabilities, but also on the volume of the trunk of the car. Although, some tourists - tenters feel quite well while sitting on stumps or on tourist rugs - seats.

5. Camping utensils

Depending on what and how much you plan to cook. And if you can use ordinary disposable plastic utensils and plastic appliances for eating, then for cooking you need at least one pot, frying pan, or a pot, if you prefer to cook on a fire, a ladle, etc. I wrote more about what dishes can be useful on a trip, as well as what products to take to nature, in one of my previous articles: what products to take to nature (follow the link).

Also, it will not be superfluous to have a gas stove and a small supply of gas cylinders on a hike or a trip with tents - not everyone knows how to cook on a fire.

6. Other little things

For example, toilet paper, ointments and liquids from ticks and mosquitoes.

A brazier and skewers or a grill for cooking meat or fish, ready-made charcoal, in order not to wait until enough coal burns in a fire, will not be superfluous. You can also take a bundle of firewood with you, especially if you plan to camp with tents in a place where, by definition, there is not only dead wood, but also, in principle, a forest.

7. First aid kit and medicines

Resting in nature, there is always a risk of injury. Therefore, a tourist first aid kit should always be at hand. There should also be a small supply of medicines in case you have to take them on a regular basis.

The list of necessary things for active autotourism

Active autotourism, with its longer pastime far from home, implies a more expanded set of necessary things. Although, in fact, the list of necessary things that you need to take with you is almost the same as the previous one.

Perhaps the main difference is a much larger amount of clothing, in which it is necessary to take into account both the likely heat and the possibility of a sharp cold snap. Of course, it makes no sense to take the entire wardrobe from home, but spare trousers and jackets obviously do not hurt. Boots with warm socks will not be superfluous.

Food supplies are collected depending on the direction and place where you plan to go. Even in the village shop you can buy the most necessary products. But, if you plan to go, for example, far into the mountains, and the nearest village is located hundreds of kilometers away, then you should take care of the supply of food and water.

The same applies to other related items: dishes, washing accessories, towels, etc.

When we are going on a long trip, we have a large number of bags that need to be somehow distributed around the car ... Therefore, when packing things, you need to take into account the trunk volume of your iron friend. And the principle "I'll take it just in case" does not always justify itself.

On the other hand, when traveling by car, you can take with you an almost unlimited number of necessary things, which cannot be said about long trips on foot, when everything you might need on a camping trip must not only be compactly packed into a backpack, but also carried this backpack on your back...

List of necessary things for a camping trip

In this case, I will limit myself to a universal list, since each hiker has his own individual capabilities and needs.

  1. Backpack. The backpack should be comfortable, light and roomy, with a large number of pockets and compartments.
  2. Tent. For hiking, they select the most light, but at the same time, waterproof tent. It will no longer be possible to take tents and camping furniture with you. Tourist seat mat.
  3. Sleeping bag and travel mat. Without it, nowhere. Sleeping on bare ground is not only unpleasant, but also fraught with hypothermia with all associated diseases.
  4. A set of warm clothes: thick jacket, jumper, trousers, socks, hat, gloves. Especially if you go to the mountains. Sunglasses for the mountain route also do not hurt. With bright sun and snow lying in the mountains, the eyes will not be comfortable.
  5. A set of ordinary hiking clothes. As a rule, this is a sports suit. Waterproof raincoat - in case of heavy rain. Ideally, the raincoat should be large enough that you can fit into it with your backpack.
  6. Several sets of underwear, including underwear, t-shirts, socks. It is better to take from soft natural fabrics. Cap or head scarf.
  7. Shoes. As a rule, on a long trip with tents, they take with them thick waterproof boots and lighter shoes, for example, ordinary sneakers.
  8. Phones, watches, navigator, camera. If you take electronic devices on a hike, do not forget to take spare batteries.
  9. Washing supplies, towels, soap/shampoo, tissues, toilet paper…
  10. Set of dishes. Depending on the number of people going on a hike. If there is a large group, then the dishes used for cooking are distributed among the tourists, and each tourist also takes an individual set of dishes (plate, mug, fork, spoon, knife). If a small team goes on a hike, or an individual hike is planned, then you yourself will have to carry both a primus stove with a supply of gas, and a saucepan.
  11. Products. Probably the hardest part of the list. You can’t carry a large amount of canned food and potatoes with cereals on yourself. Therefore, many experienced tourists are content with little: they take with them a limited set of fast-cooking cereals, nuts, dried fruits, dried meat, spices, etc.
  12. Other little things. Matches or a lighter, a flashlight (preferably a headlamp), a small coil of a regular clothesline (for example, hang clothes to dry), a few plastic bags, thread and a needle, scissors. Don't forget to bring some cash and your passport with you. No matter where it will take you.

Many people go hiking and enjoy it, but there are those who have never been on a hike. Done right, with all the right gear and knowledge, you can have a lot of fun. Staying in a tent is a great way to comfortably spend time outdoors. Below is the background information you will need to organize your campsite, such as what to bring, what to do and where to stay.

Steps

Find a good place to camp. You can find a place online that has good reviews and a high rating. If you know approximately in which area you want to stay, look on the map for the camp sites exactly there. Ask friends or families who have already been hiking for advice. Learn about camping rules and regulations. Is it possible to stay for a large group of people? Is camping suitable for trailers only, or is it possible to bring a tent? How big can your tent be? Can you bring pets with you? Find out about the possibilities. Maybe you want a campsite with good toilets, showers and water supply? Do you want entertainment nearby, such as bars? Do you want shops or cafes nearby? Or a pool? Or do you want a simpler campsite with beautiful scenery? Find the perfect location just for you. No matter where you decide to camp, you need to find a place to camp that isn't completely flat in case it rains. Make sure the seat is free and claim it for yourself.

Make sure you have a good tent. Try to find a tent with a built-in sheet underneath to prevent hypothermia and keep insects out. Buy a separate mat to put under your tent for protection. A good tent should have at least one window and enough space for all the people who are going to sleep there. In addition to sleeping places for people, there should also be a place to store things. Decide for yourself whether you want a tent with one main door or several. Check if the tent door is well protected from the wind when you are inside and make sure the door is fully closed. Make sure you have enough good pegs to set up your tent and a hammer to drive them in. You should try out your tent before you go to the campsite, so practice setting it up in your yard. In case of bad weather, you should use a tent with a porch or an awning.

Decide where you are going to sleep, and on what. If you choose to sleep on cots, air mattresses, in a sleeping bag on the floor, or on mats, make sure you bring everything with you. When you practice putting up a tent, you can try setting up a bed in it to see if there is enough space inside. If you decide to sleep on an air cushion, make sure you don't forget the pump to inflate it and the repair kit in case it breaks. Don't forget to bring something else, such as sleeping bags, extra sheets/blankets or pillows.

Decide where you are going to eat and how you are going to cook. Buy a good camping stove. If you have a gas stove, make sure you don't forget the gas bottle that powers it. Don't forget to bring cooking utensils such as light pots and pans, plates and of course the food itself. You can take water at the camp site, as almost everyone has water supplies there. If you want to make hot drinks like tea or boil water, buy a small kettle to keep warm on the stove. Also decide where you will eat. Buy folding chairs and tables and decide where they should be, outside or inside the tent. Install the stove outside the tent, as the tent material is highly flammable and may result in a fire. Buy a few windbreaks in case you can't light your stove in the wind. If you don't have a centralized dishwashing facility at your campsite, take a dishwashing bowl and remove all waste so as not to attract animals and insects. Don't forget to take dishwashing liquid and clean any rags from the table, as well as kitchen towels. Don't forget other essentials such as can openers, bottle openers, napkins or towels, tablecloths, and anything else you might need.

Do not forget other things necessary for the trip. Take a few boxes for storage, for example, for food. Grab a few plastic bags to wrap open food bags. Take a first aid kit with medicines and bandages. Bring items that will help you feel more comfortable on your hike, such as sunblock, toilet paper, baby wipes to keep you fresh, and insect repellant. It's a good idea to take a bag with soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, towel, cotton swabs and any other beauty or toiletries you want to take. Take a backpack with you in case you are walking or you need to carry a lot of things with you. You will also need water bottles or empty bottles to fill them up. You can also take cameras, books, paper and pen, alarm clock, ribbons/ropes, just in case. Waterproof material/cover for your oven.

Take a light source with you. Your hike will be doomed if you forget the lighting. Imagine trying to find your way back to your tent in the dark without a flashlight. You will especially need it if you have children. Take some torches. Larger ones for a tent and smaller, waterproof ones for going to the toilet in the dark. Other lighting methods include lanterns or lamps that run on liquid fuel. Make sure you bring spare batteries or fuel for your flashlights.

You need to take enough clothes. If you're hiking in the summer, don't forget clothing such as shorts, thin tops, swimwear, flip flops, or sandals. If you are hiking in the cold season, take a jumper, coat, trousers or long sleeved tops, sneakers or boots. Don't forget warm underwear and thick socks. Take thick pajamas. Even if you're hiking in the summer, take a jumper as it can get chilly at night and if you have to walk a long way to the bathroom, warm clothes can come in handy. Your holiday will be ruined if you get too cold.

Break the tent. You should have already tried putting up a tent in practice, and when it comes to camping try to do it before it gets dark. If you find a certain space, make sure you pitch your tent in the right place. If not, then find an open space, but preferably with a slope. Choose a place where there are no tree branches and insects.

Organize your tent. Make sure there is room for everything you need. Set up beds, and if the tent has a separate sleeping room, zip it up to keep insects out. Put food in storage boxes and make sure they are well sealed so nothing can get inside. When you enter the tent, take off your shoes to keep the tent clean, and if your tent has a mosquito net, zip it up. Make sure you know where the first aid kit and torches are. Nail windbreaks if you are using them. They can be very useful for sheltering the tent, and you can hang towels around to keep the tent dry.

Explore your camp. Find the closest toilets and make sure they are clean. If the shower is not in the same location as the bathroom, find its location. Find a laundry/cafeteria/entertainment facility if there is one near your campsite and find out opening times or other information. Walk around and enjoy the scenery.

Cooking and nutrition. Set up your stove and windbreaks outside of the tent and make sure your stove is on a stand. When you're done cooking, wash dirty dishes or put them in a bowl and take them to a place where they can be washed if your campsite has one. If the weather is bad, place the oven under a tent or awning, but keep all the heat away from the actual material. Keep leftover food safe after you've eaten. Seal open bags and make sure everything is stowed in storage boxes. Place waste in trash bags and keep sealed and off the ground. You can hang a trash bag on a branch so that it hangs high off the ground.

Develop rules for night time. Make sure you cover the oven with a waterproof cover. Fold the chairs and table and put them in the tent for the night. Collect all personal items such as soccer balls or sports equipment, or put them in the trunk of your car until the next morning. If you're worried about valuables, lock them in the glove compartment of your car. Or you could put them next to your sleeping bag. Go to the toilet for the last time, brush your teeth and don't forget a flashlight to find your way back. Whether you decide to shower or not, don't forget to change in the toilet block or in the tent. If your tent has separate rooms or compartments, you can change in the tent. You can use a plastic bag for dirty laundry or put it in an empty suitcase if you are going to do laundry at home, or fold it somewhere to do laundry tomorrow. Zip up the tent and leave a little light in there so you can see what you're doing. Make sure everyone is inside and in sleeping bags.

Do some activities outside the tent. Don't waste time sitting in a tent. Camping exists to enjoy the nature around you. So get outside and get some fresh air while doing something fun! If you have your bikes with you, ride them. Go for a walk or hike to see part of the scenery and get away from it all. Watch for wildlife or go fishing. There are many options, no matter where you are. If it's raining or bad weather, take care of indoor activities like a museum or nature center. At night, you can go outside and look at the stars. Or you could build a fire and sit around it all night. If you start a fire, make sure you do it safely, which is something to learn beforehand. Also, check if your campfire complies with the rules set out here.

Make arrangements to use the shower. If you're counting on a camping shower, make sure it's working beforehand. Check if it is free to visit, or you will need coins to pay. Also, check if there is a hair dryer in the shower unit, if you have to pay to use the shower, or if you have to dry your hair naturally. Don't forget to bring towels, shampoo and soap. Always wear old flip flops when showering to protect your feet from germs. To make sure showers are always available, don't use them during rush hour. While everyone will use it in the morning or evening, go there early in the morning, in the afternoon or late at night. Don't make too much of a fuss about your appearance when you're camping. Leave your curling irons, straighteners, and lotions at home.

  1. Be respectful. Everyone needs a camping experience, don't ruin it for someone else. This means keeping pets under control if you bring them with you. Clean up their excrement and clean up the mess. Don't play too loud music and turn it off at late hours, put away your rubbish and waste, leaving the bathroom and shower clean after every visit. Above all, respect the camping rules and this will be the best trip for everyone.

    • Remember to drink plenty of water, warm or cold, to prevent dehydration.
    • Try to find a place where you can see the sun in the morning, but in the afternoon it will be in the shade.
    • Tie a battery-operated flashlight to the ceiling of the tent in order to have a light source.
    • Always respect quiet time.
    • If you take pets camping, keep them under control, don't tie them to trees or camp equipment, keep them on a leash when you're camping, and make sure they don't bark all night and wake everyone else up.
    • Attach the corkscrew with twine or fishing line to a camping chair or cooler. Don't waste time looking for a knife at night when it's cold outside!
    • Hang a mini flashlight around your neck. Wear it around your neck every night and you will always have a source of light with you.
    • If you have a long walk to get to a campsite, make frequent stops along the way.
    • Take a sharp ax with you to camping. Near the tent city there may not be small twigs to start a fire, and you will have to find twigs left over from previous campers.
    • Remember to bring extra clothes in case you get wet or dirty.
    • If you're camping with kids, involve them in planning the trip and camping activities, such as fetching water or doing something fun.
    • Use glow sticks for soft light at night.
    • Place an old waterproof cloth or rug at the entrance of your tent to dry your feet and keep your shoes there.

    Warnings

    • Do not set up the tent under trees with dead roots or dead trees that could fall on the tent!
    • Never leave gasoline canisters when not in use and always keep them upright in a well-ventilated area.
    • Never approach wild animals as they can be dangerous and very unpredictable.
    • If you camp near a farm, always close the tent entrance behind you to prevent wild animals from entering the tent!
    • Stay away from damp, grassy areas with lots of insects and avoid wearing scented perfumes or brightly colored clothing if you're worried about attracting insects.
    • If you're hiking with kids, teach them basic outdoor safety rules and never leave them unsupervised.
    • Watch out for animals trying to get close to your products! Make sure they (products) are always sealed and that everyone knows about it. Keep them away from bears.
    • If you lit a fire, it should not be near the tent. Do not use flammable liquids to ignite it, do not leave it unattended, there should always be something to extinguish it quickly, such as water. Always extinguish a fire completely.
